Started in 1997 2Funky stated its mission: To become the best urban store in the UK if not the world!

2Funky accommodates everyone- from regular music lovers and keen record collectors to professional DJs, including those working for Radio One, 1Xtra, Choice, Kiss, and Galaxy FM, as well as having backing from various pirate stations that also fly the urban flag. Some of its most memorable clients include Tim Westwood, Fat Man Scoop and 1Xtra's G-Child.

In terms of distribution the company regularly trades with numerous companies across the UK on top of their frequent exports to Europe, America and Japan. Having accumulated some important contacts with other distributors, record labels, promoters, and radio stations 2Funky has subsequently attained a position as an essential figure in this industry reinforcing its reputation as a crucial player within a colossal urban network.

The 2Funky company particularly supports the organisation of live events, especially those set around its Leicester base so any serious fellow promoters, artists, and urban supporters who have particular ideas they'd like to see set in motion get in contact!

It also backs the promotion of talented unsigned urban musicians- something evident in the endeavours of its former label Café De Soul which secured nine now-signed artists and the worldwide distribution of eighteen of their successfully released albums. More recently the self-named 2Funky record label was launched with freshly signed Canadian artist Ray Robinson as their latest addition, along with a UK RnB compilation compiled by DJ G-Child (1Xtra).

As it stands the company is rated as the UK's best and one of Europe's top urban stores yet 2Funky is something more than just an active supplier and successful business. In its quest to cultivate and enhance the profile of urban music in the midlands it has involved itself in various community based projects to reach young people who could really benefit from the interactive dimensions of the music scene. DJ, MC, breakdance and streetdance workshops co-ordinated by the 2Funky crew have all been fruitful projects in improving the confidence and team-building capabilities of young individuals through the development of their dancing and musical skills.

Despite endless ventures down multiple avenues, considering its heavy involvements in all things urban, 2Funky still has so much to pull out of its musical sleeve so watch this space.
